It's a fun read, lots of action.My biggest quibble is that it could easily have been two or three tightly written books instead of just one. It covers over a decade, and glosses over some of the character growth when it could have covered them more thoroughly and not lost its fast pace.

This book has made a grown man weep tears in public and laugh out loud. I friggin' love this book. Ok only hope that the rest of the series is as well written.
Timing and pacing are not good. Random, unclear time jumps into the future, and if the premise wasn't as interesting as it is, it would be two stars. The originality and creativity give it 3 stars.
I really enjoyed the first book in this series! It is a unique story with great dialogue! Loved the action throughout the book and the interactions between characters. It was easy to get lost in this book, and Christopher Woods kept an undertone of humor in the dialogue. I think this is a great first book in the series and would definitely recommend it to anyone!
Should have been advertised as a team or young adult novel. Good enough action. Wasn't what I expected. Plot was there, barely.

I saw nothing bad in this book. This, to me is just the best story about magic I have ever read, and I have been reading for over 60 years!!!
I picked up this book because I like the author. I bought and finished all four of the books in the series in three days.
it's a great new alternate universe, with well developed characters and a thorough scientific, military and mystical system.
I wholeheartedly recommend this series.
